Tsavorite

Tsavorite is an extremely rare variety of garnet, which has earned its place as one of the finest colored gemstones. Tsavorites show eye-catching, vibrant shades of green, which certainly rival and often outshine the beauty of Emerald. Having far fewer inclusions than the Emerald it is more durable and suitable for use in jewelry.

Tsavorites are also singly refractive stones, which means that the light entering the stone travels in one direction only and does not split into two rays, thus resulting in a stone with enormous brilliance and transparency.

It is a real connoisseur’s and collector’s gem. Discovered in 1967, it was named after the Tsavo Game Reserve in Kenya. Today it is found in Kenya, Tanzania and Madagascar. These are true gifts of nature and any stone found over 5 carats is really a collector’s dream.
